2021 – What an incredible year for multi-award-winning Head Chef Matt!
Joining our Fernhill House care home team in 2019, Matt has developed with the support of his kitchen team a truly inspired Dining experience for loved ones.
From sitting together to plan the vegetable and herb gardens to afternoons reminiscing about dishes that evoke wonderful memories and then creating regular menus with dishes inspired by those memories and credited to individual residents.
And the award goes to…
With his passion for his residents and ensuring they have only the very best whatever their unique needs, it’s no surprise that Matt scooped a Hat trick of awards!!
Not only did win the Majesticare’s MasterChef award during Care Home Open Week, he then won the REGIONAL FINALIST award at the NACC* Care Chef of the Year competition which earned him a place in the National finals where he achieved a sensational 2nd place!
That makes him the 2nd best Care Chef in the UK!! #Amazing 🧡💯
We asked Matt how it felt to have his dedication and his work recognised by not only his Majesticare peers but at a National level too!

“I love being guided by our residents, whether it’s creating a dish with vegetables they’ve grown in our gardens or bringing a childhood memory back with ‘Aunt Eva’s Apple Pie’… you can’t get more enjoyment than using fresh, seasonal produce to bring a huge smile to someone face!
